The316L is a stainless steel material label, AISI 316L is the corresponding American label, and sus 316L is the corresponding Japanese label. China's unified number code name is S31603, the standard number is 022Cr17Ni12Mo2 (new standard), the old number is 00Cr17Ni14Mo2, which mainly contains Cr, Ni, Mo, the number is about the percentage of containing. The national standard is GB / T 20878-2007 (current version).

The 316L has been widely used in the chemical industry because of its excellent corrosion resistance. The 316L is also a derivative steel type of type 18-8 austenitic stainless steel, with 2~3% Mo elements added. On the basis of 316L, many kinds of steel are also derived, such as 316 Ti after adding a small amount of T i, 316N after adding a small amount of N, and 317L after increasing Ni and Mo content of 317 L.
Most of the existing 316L on the market is produced under the US label. For cost considerations, steel mills generally put the Ni content of products as far as possible to the lower limit. The Ni content of 316L is 10~14%, while the daily standard stipulates that the Ni content of 316L is 12~15%. According to the lowest standard, there is a 2% difference between American standard and Japanese standard in Ni content, which is quite huge in the price, so customers still need to see when choosing 316L products, whether the product refers to ASTM or JIS standard.
The Mo content of 316L makes the steel has excellent corrosion resistance and can be safely used in Cl-isohalogen ion environment. Since 316L mainly uses its chemical properties, steel mills have a slightly lower surface inspection requirements for 316L (relative to 304), and customers with higher surface requirements should strengthen their surface inspection efforts.

Differential discrimination
The two most commonly used stainless steel 304,316 (or corresponding to German / Euro 1.4308,1.4408), the main difference between the chemical composition of the 316 and 316 contains Mo, and generally accepted, 316 is better corrosion resistance, more resistant than the 304 in high temperature environment. So in the high temperature environment, engineers will generally choose the components of 316 materials. But the so-called thing is not absolute, in the thick sulfuric acid environment, no matter how high the temperature also must not use 316. Otherwise, this matter can be a big one.
